Interviews with students and parents. Were they recorded and subject to FOIA request?
“What happened … should never happen with another child, and I’m asking for these things — accountability for those who restrained, taped and harmed students meaning resignation or removal; protection for all families and students who speak up, no minimizing, no retaliation, no victim blaming; support for students … and trauma-informed care.”
The birthday spankings were a “complete violation of appropriate boundaries from adults who are supposed to be safe people,” another parent speaking at the board meeting said. “I don’t think this is what QPS stands for.”
Pettit said follow-up investigation by QPS to additional parent concerns involved interviews with 36 students and parents, review of numerous hours of security footage and 21 interviews with staff members.
“After consideration of all the evidence uncovered in the investigation, we concluded that there is not credible evidence to show that the conduct continued after our November response and implementation of corrective action. As of June 25, all complaints brought to QPS have been fully investigated,” the statement said.
